No, I don't know anybody who is Japanese. I've always had this ability to teach myself the reading, writing, and grammar of
another language because I'm strong in my native language, English. True, without listening to a native speaker of Japanese, it will be difficult to learn to speak the words properly. However, I can still learn to read and write in it....

I don't even know those Hiragana yet, I just know...

a, e, i, o, u, ka, ki, ku, ke, ko, sa, shi, su, se, so, ta, tsu, chi, te, to, na, ni, nu, ne, no, ma, mi, mu, me, mo, ra, ri, ru, re, ro, ha,
hi, he, ho, fu, wa, n, o (particle), ya, yu, yo...

as for the contracted, this is what I know...

kya, kyu, kyo, sha, shu, sho, rya, ryu, ryo, cha, chu, cho, gya, gyu, gyo, mya, myu myo...

learning the contracted ones for Hiragana are cake, because i'm simply putting into practice what I've learned ;)

Also, I'm trying to start to learn vocabulary using Hiragana. I'm just learning nouns...but I'll take what I can get....
